Now known as Gastrodermus Pygmaeus

Scientific Name: Gastrodermus pygmaeus (formerly Corydoras pygmaeus)
Common Name: Pygmy Corydoras
Origin: South America. Native to the Madeira River basin in western Brazil, with populations also recorded in tributaries of the Nanay River in Peru and the Aguarico River in Ecuador, where it inhabits quiet, shallow waters with soft bottoms and plenty of vegetation.
Diet: Omnivorous micro-feeders with tiny mouths; offer finely crushed sinking foods, micro pellets, and small live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp and daphnia
Adult Size: Around 1 inch (about 2.5 cm)
Temperament: Peaceful schooling fish; keep groups of 8 or more, ideally 10+, to see their natural mid-water shoaling
Tank Size: 10+ gallons
Tank Requirements: 72-79°F, pH 6.0-8.0, soft sand or fine smooth substrate to protect barbels, planted cover, and gentle filtration
Compatible Tankmates: Small, peaceful species such as small rasboras, pencilfish, dwarf tetras, Boraras, otocinclus, and shrimp; avoid anything large enough to eat or outcompete them

Quarantine: All of our fish are quarantined for a minimum of 2 weeks with ParaCleanse before being listed and shipped. We still recommend quarantining them yourself in a separate tank upon arrival, especially before adding them to a community tank.

Photos: Photos are representative of the fish you will receive; individual fish may vary slightly in size and coloration.
